New Tech
Exploring new technology is exciting. From AR and VR to NFC and RFID to robots and servos - I love playing with new tech and seeing how we can make something useful for people. At Cvent, we implemented Beacons with our app and used RFID tags in badges for tracking traffic flow. I won a company hackathon using Alexa - inside our an app and with the Echo device. At ikeGPS, we created a hardware attachment for smartphones for high accuracy laser measurements. In my workshop, I've played with drones, accelerometers, gyro's, sound detection, servo's, 3D printing, and mechanical design.

New technology may be cool, but it does take time for a user to understand it. It often needs more help and hand-holding from the app and has extra setup requirements (ie accelerometers may need calibrating or rfid's need categorizing). A part of the solution is to optimize and streamline onboarding and make your app clean and modern - but the user needs to know why it's worth it to them. What problem are we solving? What moments in the app say to the user - this helps you in your day and improves your life?
